Unison receives four Senior Choice Gold Awards for Excellence

Pittsburgh, PA (November 5, 2007) – Unison Health Plan received the 2008 Senior Choice Gold Award (SCGA) for best value in four Medicare markets.

  • Unison Health Plan of Pennsylvania’s Advantage Choice is the only Medicare Advantage plan in the Pittsburgh-area market to receive the SCGA. To read the press release, click here.

HealthMetrix Research Inc. announced on Nov. 1, 2007, that Unison is among 35 Medicare plans nationally recognized for cost-sharing effectiveness and value in the design of its 2008 medical and Part D prescription drug benefits for Medicare beneficiaries.

This is the second consecutive year that Unison’s Medicare plans gained SCGA awards in the Allentown-Lehigh Valley and Memphis markets.

HealthMetrix is a national independent managed care research firm. Award recipients were selected from more than 200 Medicare managed care plans. The distinction is based on cost-sharing comparisons, which identify Medicare plans with the lowest and highest estimated annual out-of-pocket costs based on approved 2008 member copayments, deductibles and premiums that appear in the Medicare Options Compare database at www.medicare.gov.
